His Parents


Sara Delano Roosevelt, Franklin's mother, was born on September 21, 1854, and died on September 7, 1941. She was born on the Delano Estate, New York and had ten siblings. She only had one child, Franklin. She married James in 1990.


James Roosevelt was born July 16, 1828and died on December 8, 1900.

Their children


Franklin and Eleanor had six children. Their names are Anna (1906-1975), James (1907-1991), Franklin Delano Jr.(March 3, 1909-November 7, 1909), Elliot (1910-1990), Franklin Delano Jr. (a second) (1914-1988), and John Aspinwall (1916-1981).

Interesting Facts!


FDR won election to the New York SEnate in 1910, President Wilson appointed him Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and he was nominee for Vice President in 1920. In the summer of 1921, when he was 39, he was stricken with poliomyelitis, he fought to regain the use of this legs. In 1928 he became Governor of New York.

When Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Roosevelt directed organization of the Nation's manpower and resources for global war.

He died on April 12, 1945 of cerbral hemornhage at Warm Springs, Georgia.

Who is his wife?


He married Eleanor Roosevelt on St. Patrick's Day, 1905. She was born on October 11, 1884 and died on November 7, 1962. She supported the New Deal and adovated Civil Rights. She co-founded Freedom House and supported the formation of the United Nations. She was known as "First Lady of the World."

Where is he from?


Hyde Park, New York City. He attened Harvard University and Columbia Law School.
